Sooriyane - Lucky Ali, Rahul Nambiar

A pop number with an interesting westernized rendition by Lucky Ali and Rahul Nambiar, that talk about an actor’s rise to stardom and his ambitions taking a dig at some of the common trends in the film industry in the process. A song with high tempo with Carnatic interludes well fused into the flow, makes for interesting listening. Guess it’s a song that is meant to pep up the flow of the movie, a kind of montage song probably.

Uyirilae - Naresh Iyer Lyrics: Na Muthukumar A love ballad soulfully sung by Naresh Iyer. A haunting melody and some meaningful lyrics are some of its strong points. Orchestration is simple with a straightforward use of violins and western harmony interludes.

Thaiyya Thaiyya - Shreya Goshal Lyrics: Kabilan An innovative attempt by GV Prakash, a fusion of Russian folk and Scottish tunes. Shreya Goshal gives the song a unique flavor with her voice and high pitched rendition. A notable aspect is the use of flute and drums blended with the operatic harmony and violins in the background, sure to appeal to one and all. One that will grow on the listener, all it needs is good visuals to catapult it further. Lyrics are good and are about a girl’s aspirations and dreams well spelt out. Vizhiyile – Chitra Lyrics: Pazhanibharathy A fantastic rendition by Chitra to what could best be defined as pure melancholy; she is called Chinna Kuyil not without reason.

Truly one of GV Prakash’s best compositions till date, with flute and violin pieces making for an interesting mix reminiscent of the May Madham days of Rahman. The slow tempo adds to the feel of the song that is sure to pluck your heart strings. A song that will stay on with you for a long time. Verdict: G.V. Prakash Kumar has done it yet again proving that he can lend a unique feel to a movie with his music and that his following among Tamil audiences is slowly and steadily growing. The variety in the album speaks a lot about the movie and what it has in store. Hope the visuals are as appealing as the songs. It might not have an instant appeal among the masses but they don’t seem to be the target audience either.
